Breaking Bad!!

Saturday night we attended what has become an annul event, Jess and Tom's Halloween Party!! They go all out, its really cool and creepy (the decor, not the people ;).. I am kicking myself for not getting pictures of their AWESOME decorations!! Thanks guys for giving us an excuse to dress up every year :D

Weekends are the bestest!!!

I will say it over and over again.. my favorite thing about working vs. being a student is ENJOYING WEEKENDS!! Weekends were reserved for studying for so long, I feel like a whole new world has been opened up to me. OH YEA!

Friday night date night was postponed secondary to me attending a co-worker's baby shower :) No pictures, but definitely a lot of fun was had, I am so blessed to work with such wonderful people!! So wonderful that I actually want to see them after work :)

Saturday morning was spent with my mom and bro, time with them is always very special.. even though we were missin a few peeps from our posse ;)

Date Night happened on Saturday. Started with a lovely walk on Myrtle, where Erik was being extra nice and letting me stop at ALL the stores and look at everything pretending I would buy it all :D
It was such perfect gloomy weather, Yay Fall!!

Then we went to our favorite sushi place: Mikomi Sushi.. yummy!!


 Also hit another favorite spot on myrtle for a little pool action, dont ask me what I am aiming at?!

Saturday was extra fun because our most favorite neighbors hung out with us the rest of the night!! Always good times with them :D 

I totally failed at my bloggerly duties on Sunday and didnt take pictures :( But our Sunday Funday was spent with two great ladies and they introduced us to this amazingness: Din Tai Fung and


As much as I absolutely adore the weekend there is always something refreshing about getting back into the normal, weekday routine... plus it makes me appreciate when the next weekend rolls around :)

Gots to have some hobbies!!

This  year has been one of transition!! I have wanted to write a whole post on all the change that has occurred this year, how I have adjusted, and what I have learned. But honestly I can not put it all to words yet... Dont get me wrong the changes this year have been mostly great, I just havent been able to digest it all yet. 

One thing I have learned this year more than ever is the importance of having a hobby/ an outlet/ an activity that I do purely for the enjoyment of it. Something that is not done out of obligation. I wish I could say I fully realized this when I was a student... Although, I have stayed true to one hobby... I love to talk with people in person, I love to listen, and I love to share. I have continued to enjoy this hobby my entire life, just ask my parents ;) Lord bless them!! I am so thankful I have people in my life who understand that I process my thoughts OUT LOUD! Being a chatterbox is a great outlet :D

When I was in school, sooo my whole life until this past year, I got a lot of alone/ quite time thanks to hours upon hours of studying :) Now that I am working I am sooo happy that my job is centered around people, I wouldnt have it any other way!! But I get tired of hearing my self talk, haha and have really grown a desire for activities that allow me to be fully immersed in what I am doing, to turn off my 1,000 thoughts, and rest my mouth and my mind :) It has been such a wonderful process discovering these things that I LOVE to do and that have become such an essential part of my joy in life!!

First one is cooking!! and BAKING :D I hope to share some of my "creations" here on the blog. Most of the stuff I make is real simple, but I just love turing on some relaxing music and getting in the zone. This week I havent felt much like cooking so Erik picked up the slack. Chicken fajitas: chicken, peepers, and onions with some lime juice. Simple and delicious!!



SPIN! SPIN! SPIN! My new-ish favorite!! I am totally spoiled and have a gym within walking distance! No matter what kind of day I've had, I hop on the spin bike pedal my heart out to some sweet tunes and get super sweaty.. its GREAT!!


Gardening has also won my heart (tell me you saw my HUGE garden in my previous post ;) For now its just some potted plants, but I have fallen in love with the process and know that gardening is now a forever thing. Cant wait to one day plant in the ground!!

And it would not be complete post talking about hobbies unless I mentioned WALKING!! My family has always gone on walks since I can remember. Walking almost doesnt feel like a hobby anymore as much as a way of life. Even just a quick walk around the block can completely change my mood. I am so thankful that we live where I can walk to EVERYTHING! Monday thru Friday the only time I drive is to work :) I am so thankful Erik enjoys walking too, He is my most favorite walking partner!! Some of our best conversations and memories have occurred while walking together :) It truly is a therapeutic activity...

REJOICE!!

Too often I find myself focusing on the negative aspects of life. I have this verse posted on our fridge and try to read it often, it is one of those verses that immediately calms me and reminds me where my focus should be.

Philippians 4:4-9

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, presents your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely,whatever is admirable- if anything is excellent or praiseworthy- think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen me put into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.

Monstoberfest and my shameful purchase

What a GREAT weekend, with the highlight definitely being MONSTOBERFEST !! Really great opening night showcasing some very talented artists!! The location was perfect, shout out to Rothick art hausErik was in the show and his lovely co-worker/ friend Vivian

Now time for the shame and the full disclosure of what happened today....
I started Christmas shopping! I know what you are thinking, please dont judge, I am usually not this person, hhaha. I blame it all on Bath and Body Works. I saw on-line they are having the 2 for $20 deal on candles!! I went with full intention to buy pumpkiney/ harvest candles, but they had none?! Only Christmas candles, I was afraid this was my only chance.. I panicked and stocked up both for gifts and so our house can smell like Christmas.. This lead to a few hours of Christmas shopping :) I must say the selection is much better at this time of year, but I understand if it is against your holiday morals to acknowledge Christmas prior to Turkey Day ;)

And yes, this is my attempt at an "artsy" picture. I do get how lame I am, but I want to show Erik that I can be creative too ;)

Celebrating TWO years!

October is my favorite month of the year :D It used to always be December, and now it is a Very close second. But let me share why October pulled ahead for the win: I love the change of weather, I have been wearing hoodies and feeling the crisp air on my face and drink warm drinks, it wonderful! This is the month that Erik and I started hanging out, I have so many fun memories of our first walks, talks, and meals together. And then the big one that sealed the deal October 9th 2010, Erik in all of his bravery vowed to stay with me for life, yes he is a very strong man, hahahha. 

Last weekend we celebrated our second anniversary! The name of the game was to be spontaneous, we have declared this the year of adventure with the goal of enjoying the little commitment we have in life now and doing things that might not be possible later in life...

Friday night started with a fun tradition, beer sampler. When Erik first met me and we went to dinner he discovered I had only drank Bud light beer, he was appalled and insisted we sample beer. This lead to the enjoyment of sampling various beer together and me becoming more cultured (kind of ;)

Enjoyed in our Star Wars pints... an awesome wedding gift!!


We also exchanged gifts :D Erik made me another INCREDIBLE video documenting our year!! I now have videos for the past three years, I LOVE them dearly!! I got this idea from the blog that sparked my interest in blogging :Peanut Butter Fingers
I embroidered maps of the cities the we met, got engaged, got married and now live!!


Saturday lead to a great surprise!!! Our most wonderful friend, Byron, had extra tickets for Disneyland!! OH YEA! Such a super fun day!! Thank you Byron!!

The day started with some drinks and appetizers at the very cool new restaurant in California Adventure, Carthy Circle! Such a welcomed change from the burgers and fries and corndogs that we usually get.


This is a pic of us on the new ride in California Adventure Radiator Springs Racers!! We LOVED Cars Land and this ride is my new favorite ride!! Sorry Small World, Im in the need for SPEED! Dont worry mom, Small World is still my second favorite ;)


Then we got prime seats at Ariels Grotto for the World of Color show!! Super exciting!! If you eat one thing at Disneyland/ California adventure please order the lobster nachos at Ariels Grotto... HOLY YUM!


Sunday was spent in LONG BEACH!! We both will always have a special spot in our heart for this city and CSULB!! Such wonderful, special memories. We drove/ walked around the campus and then went to second street and walked around. Here is the only picture I got of the WHOLE day, LOL PRIORITIES people!! This was the best ice cream I have ever had danish ice cream from Paradis !!

Such a sweet, sweet ending!!! 

Thank you, thank you for all of you who made us feel so incredibly loved on our special day!! It took an army to make our wedding happen :D If you were there you know I am not exaggerating. And we continue to be so blessed by the same amazing people and some new ones that support us in our marriage!!
