This year has been one of transition!! I have wanted to write a whole post on all the change that has occurred this year, how I have adjusted, and what I have learned. But honestly I can not put it all to words yet... Dont get me wrong the changes this year have been mostly great, I just havent been able to digest it all yet.
One thing I have learned this year more than ever is the importance of having a hobby/ an outlet/ an activity that I do purely for the enjoyment of it. Something that is not done out of obligation. I wish I could say I fully realized this when I was a student... Although, I have stayed true to one hobby... I love to talk with people in person, I love to listen, and I love to share. I have continued to enjoy this hobby my entire life, just ask my parents ;) Lord bless them!! I am so thankful I have people in my life who understand that I process my thoughts OUT LOUD! Being a chatterbox is a great outlet :D
When I was in school, sooo my whole life until this past year, I got a lot of alone/ quite time thanks to hours upon hours of studying :) Now that I am working I am sooo happy that my job is centered around people, I wouldnt have it any other way!! But I get tired of hearing my self talk, haha and have really grown a desire for activities that allow me to be fully immersed in what I am doing, to turn off my 1,000 thoughts, and rest my mouth and my mind :) It has been such a wonderful process discovering these things that I LOVE to do and that have become such an essential part of my joy in life!!
First one is cooking!! and BAKING :D I hope to share some of my "creations" here on the blog. Most of the stuff I make is real simple, but I just love turing on some relaxing music and getting in the zone. This week I havent felt much like cooking so Erik picked up the slack. Chicken fajitas: chicken, peepers, and onions with some lime juice. Simple and delicious!!
SPIN! SPIN! SPIN! My new-ish favorite!! I am totally spoiled and have a gym within walking distance! No matter what kind of day I've had, I hop on the spin bike pedal my heart out to some sweet tunes and get super sweaty.. its GREAT!!
Gardening has also won my heart (tell me you saw my HUGE garden in my previous post ;) For now its just some potted plants, but I have fallen in love with the process and know that gardening is now a forever thing. Cant wait to one day plant in the ground!!
And it would not be complete post talking about hobbies unless I mentioned WALKING!! My family has always gone on walks since I can remember. Walking almost doesnt feel like a hobby anymore as much as a way of life. Even just a quick walk around the block can completely change my mood. I am so thankful that we live where I can walk to EVERYTHING! Monday thru Friday the only time I drive is to work :) I am so thankful Erik enjoys walking too, He is my most favorite walking partner!! Some of our best conversations and memories have occurred while walking together :) It truly is a therapeutic activity...
Couples that walk together. Stay together.
TGIF!! Enjoy your weekend!!
With Love,
Kel
